Istanbul is major city in Türkiye that straddles
Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Strait and hence can be called
as a "Transcontinental City"

Istanbul has a rich history that dates back to 4th Cenury A.D, to the Eastern Roman Empire. The City was declared as New Rome by the emperor Constantine I, shortly after which it was renamed as Constantinople. It remained prominently within the Christendom until late 15th century. In 1453, however, after months of siege and warfare, The Queen of Cities fell to Turkish invasion led by Sultan Mehmed II and remained as the Capital of the Ottoman Empire till its collapse in World War I.
